Trash & Recycling

Pursuant to Act 101, Elizabethtown Borough provides a comprehensive trash and recycling program for residents.

Household trash and recycling is collected curbside in Elizabethtown Borough once a week by Noble Environmental Specialty Services LLC (Noble Environmental).  Residents may use two containers or bags no larger than 32-gallons and weighing no more than 30 pounds for trash disposal.  Additional containers or bags require an extra trash tag that can be purchased at the Borough Office or at local convenience and grocery stores.  Simply put the extra trash tag on the top item inside the can or attach it to a bag. Beginning January 1, 2023 the cost of an extra trash tag will increase to $3.00.

Residents may use a recycling container (or multiple containers) of choice - no larger than 32 gallons in size and weighing no more than 30 pounds.  Simply apply a recycling sticker to the container(s).  Free recycling and yard waste stickers are available at the Elizabethtown Borough Office.

Special collection dates are also available throughout the year for leaves, yard waste, white goods and tires. Residents may also place one oversized item per week curbside as long as the item can be lifted into the truck by two people.

Items for weekly curbside collection should be placed curbside the night before the scheduled collection, this includes yard waste and oversized items.

In addition to the Borough’s comprehensive trash and recycling program, Lancaster County residents may also take advantage of the trash and recycling programs offered by Lancaster County Solid Waste Management Authority (LCSWMA)
