Open Records - Right to Know Requests
Right to Know requests are to be submitted in writing using the Right to Know Request Form and should be addressed to the Elizabethtown Borough Open Records Officer. Requests related to audio and/or video recordings made by the Elizabethtown Police Department are to be submitted in writing using the Law Enforcement Recording Request Form - Act 22 of 2017.
If a requester chooses not to use the appropriate request form, the request will be considered an informal request, not subject to the Right to Know Law (RTKL). This means that the requester cannot pursue the relief and remedies provided for in the RTKL. The Borough will not respond to anonymous requests for records.
To allow Elizabethtown Borough to locate requested records and determine whether those records are public, requests for records should be specific and concise and clearly identify as precisely as possible the records sought. Requesters should clearly indicate the preferred method of access - paper copies, electronic copies, or by inspection. Requesters should retain a copy of the request for their file, as a copy of the request is necessary should a requester appeal Elizabethtown Borough's response.
