Notice of Comcast Programming Advisory (May 1, 2023)

"As part of our ongoing commitment to keep you and our customers informed about changes to Xfinity TV services, we wanted to update you that Comcast’s right to continue carrying NFL Network and NFL RedZone expired at 11:59pm Eastern time on April 30, 2023. As a result, absent a renewal of the agreement, we are not currently authorized to carry NFL Network and NFL RedZone as part of our lineup. We always work to reach deals that make sense for our customers. To date, however, the NFL and Comcast have been unable to reach an agreement to continue to carry NFL Network and NFL RedZone. Since we are not currently authorized to carry NFL Network or NFL RedZone, we have implemented a channel slate (advising of unavailability) on the impacted channels and have activated www.xfinity.com/programmingchanges to help keep our customers informed during this period. We will continue to provide updates to you and our customers as they become available."

Notification of Comcast Channel Changes effective June 13, 2022

We are committed to keeping you and our customers informed about changes to Xfinity TV services.  As the broadcast industry’s business environment and practices regarding the carriage of out-of-market broadcast stations continue to change, we must assess and adjust our channel lineups to reflect these carriage changes. Accordingly, please note the following changes occurring on June 13, 2022 to the Xfinity lineup provided in your community:

  • WBAL (NBC) will no longer be available on channels 11/1011, however you can continue to watch NBC programming on WGAL channel 2; HD 808/1008;
  • WPSG (CW) will no longer be available on channels 14/1057, however you can continue to watch CW programming on WHP-CW channel 4; HD 805/1166;
  • KYW (CBS) will move from channels 15/1003 to channel 1195;
  • WCAU (NBC) will move from channels 10/1010 to channel 1196;
  • WPVI (ABC) will move from channels 6/1006 to channel 1197;
  • WTXF (Fox) will move from channels 729/1029 to channel 1198.
  • Any scheduled DVR recordings for programming on WBAL and WPSG after June 13th will automatically be deleted, and future NBC and CW recordings will need to be reset to record on WGAL and WHP-CW respectively.

Your community is designated by Nielsen as part of the Harrisburg-Lancaster-Lebanon-York television market and the stations listed above are out-of-market broadcasters in your area.  News from out-of-market broadcasters can be found on the station websites, on Tubi in some locations – which is available on X1 at no cost – or via the NewsON app.  Syndicated programming carried by out-of-market broadcasters can be found on local in-market stations.

Customers are receiving notice of these changes in their bill. To learn more about these changes, see the attached Frequently Asked Questions below:

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you have to drop these stations? WBAL is designated to serve the Baltimore television market. WPSG is designated to serve the Philadelphia television market. Your area is designated as part of the Harrisburg-Lancaster-Lebanon-York television market, which means WBAL and WPSG are considered out of your local broadcast area.

What makes a broadcaster or station out-of-market? Any broadcaster that is located in, and broadcasts from, a different television market than the one you live in is considered an “out-of-market” broadcaster. This means that in addition to the stations you receive from within your primary television market, you may also receive stations from out-of-market broadcasters who happen to have signals that reach your area.

What is a television market and who determines the boundaries? Television markets are also known as Designated Market Areas (DMAs) and are not limited by state lines or other geographic boundaries. A DMA is a geographic area that represents specific television markets as defined by and updated annually by the A.C. Nielsen Company. All municipalities are assigned to a primary DMA. Accordingly, customers receive broadcast channels based on the municipality in which they live. Comcast does not control the designation of DMAs or determine to which DMA a municipality is assigned.

Can I still watch WBAL and WPSG’s programming? For WBAL’s news, weather, sports, and other content, visit the station’s website, wbaltv.com. For WPSG’s news, weather, sports, and other content, visit the station’s website, cwphilly.cbslocal.com.
