Bicycles

The police are encouraging residents to register their bicycles. The department handles dozens of found bicycles each year, many of which had been previously stolen and were not reported to the police. It is extremely difficult and many times impossible for the police to locate the owners of these unlicensed bicycles. The police department donates these unclaimed bicycles to the Lancaster Boys and Girls Club for distribution to deserving children. Bicycle licenses can be purchased at the police department between 7:30 am and 3:30 pm for $1.00 and are good as long as the registered owner owns the bike. Click here for the registration form.

Click here for Ordinance 811 on the use of bicycles. Please note that the fee shown in Ordinance 811 was reduced to $1.00, effective January 1, 2004, in Resolution 2003-4.
