In 2005 the Master Plan for Downtown Elizabethtown was unveiled to the community through a public event in cooperation with the former Elizabethtown Economic Development Corporation (EEDC). The concept plan created a vision for the enhancement and expansion of the Central Business District in downtown Elizabethtown. A narrative outlines key concepts of the plan.
The plan followed a report prepared for the EEDC by Robert Gleeson entitled "Exploiting Opportunities to Strengthen Elizabethtown's Central Business District."
Since it's development, many pieces of the Master Plan for Downtown Elizabethtown have been realized and over $14.5 million in federal, state, and county grant funding has been applied to these projects.
