The Elizabethtown Police Department collects unwanted pharmaceuticals (prescription medications) throughout the year at the police station during normal business hours, Monday – Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. The Police Department will accept pills, gel tabs, liquid prescriptions, inhalers, medical patches and syringes.
The Elizabethtown Police Department also collects unwanted pharmaceuticals at the Elizabethtown Senior Center on the third Wednesday of each month between 10:00-10:15 a.m. The Senior Center is located at 70 South Poplar Street in Elizabethtown.
Prescription drugs need to be disposed of properly. Flushing unused medications or throwing them into the trash can have adverse effects on the environment. Aside from possibly damaging the treatment facilities, sewerage treatment plants are not able to remove all the chemicals which may harm waterways, wildlife and plantlife.
