Child Safety Seat Law

Child passenger protection laws apply to children under eight (8) years of age who are being transported in a passenger car, class 1 or class 2 truck, classic or antique motor vehicle, or motor home. Children under four (4) years of age must be securely fastened in a child passenger restraint system. Click here to view the PA Vehicle Code, Section 4581 for more information on Child Passenger Protection.

The police department offers safety inspections of child safety seats, booster seats and safety belts for Elizabethtown Borough residents. Non-residents should check with their local police department for similar services. Citizens can contact Officer Jesse Schlotzhauer at 367-6540 ext. 239 to set up an appointment. Residents should expect the safety inspection to take about 45 minutes.
