ELIZABETHTOWN BOROUGH

2008 MEETING SCHEDULE

The meeting dates for the Elizabethtown Borough Council and its various boards and commissions for calendar year 2008 are a listed below:

(a) Borough Council: Regular meeting on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM. Work session on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM. Borough Council may conduct any or all business at either of these scheduled meetings.

(b) Planning Commission: Meetings to be determined.

(c) Zoning Hearing Board: Meets on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 PM except for January which will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd and September which will be held on Tuesday, September 4th at 7:00 PM.

(d) Civil Service Commission: Meets on an as needed basis.

(e) Code Appeals Board: Meets on an as needed basis.

(f) Board of Health: Meets on the First Tuesday of March, June, September and December at 7:00 PM.

All of the above meetings are held at the Borough Office, 600 South Hanover Street, Elizabethtown at the times and dates listed above. Interested persons may call 367-1700 for more information.

(g) Donegal - Elizabethtown Area Appeals Board: Meets on an as needed basis. Meets at West Donegal Township.

Planning Commission

(Four-Year Terms)

Meetings to be determined. The Planning Commission is responsible for reviewing all subdivision and land development applications for compliance to the Borough's code. It makes recommendations regarding changes to all land use ordinances, such as zoning. The Planning Commission also helps develop and amend the comprehensive plan for the Borough.

Zoning Hearing Board

(Four-Year Terms)

Meets at 7:00 p.m. on the first Monday of every month. The Zoning Hearing Board is a quasi-judicial body that considers applications for variances and special exceptions to the Borough's Zoning Ordinance.

Board of Health

(Five-Year Terms)

Meets four times a year. The Board of Health enforces the laws of the Commonwealth, the regulations of the State Department of Health, and all ordinances of the Borough enacted to prevent the introduction and spread of infectious or contagious disease. The Board also makes recommendations to the Borough regarding regulations for the preservation of the public health.

Civil Service Commission

(Six-Year Terms)

Meets as needed. The Civil Service Commission administers written and oral examinations to create lists of candidates for police officer vacancies and promotions. The Commission also hears civil service complaints according to the Local Agency Hearing Law.

Elizabethtown Area Community Services Authority

Meets once a year. The Elizabethtown Area Community Services Authority meets at the Community Center building.

ESPM Code Appeals Board

Meets as needed. The Code Appeals Board meets to hear appeals to the existing structures and property maintenance code.

Elizabethtown Industrial Development Authority

Meets as needed. The Elizabethtown Industrial Development Authority encourages economic development within Northwest Lancaster County in general and Elizabethtown Borough specifically. It is organized under the Economic Development Financing Law.

Elizabethtown Area Regional Authority

Meets as needed. Elizabethtown Area Regional Authority was formed in 1999 to provide the financing for the upgrade and expansion of the Elizabethtown Wastewater Treatment facility. The authority is comprised of three members from Elizabethtown Borough, Mount Joy Township Authority, and the West Donegal Township Authority.
